OCTOBER 2010 – THE ANIMALS HAVE ARRIVED –

We are really excited this week – our lovely farmyard animals have arrived from Kenya.  We first fell in love with Ivor the pig and Ellie the sheep and of course their two little friends louie and paisley at the Bubble Baby Show in London back in June.  They are lovingly knitted by Kenyan knitters who only use 100% organic wool and natural plant dyes to produce these lovely soft and cuddly toys for babies and toddlers.  This small industry helps to provide a better living for their villages in rural Kenya.

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2010 –WEB DESIGN/ALL THE BABIES LABELS

We have tried to design our online store to be clear and easy to use.  We welcome feed back from our customers and if you have any ideas on anything we can improve, please email us at enquiries@allthebabies.com.   Our continued commitment to organic and fair-trade products is our biggest priority.  We have learned that we are unable to change the way we treat the planet in a day, but if we all do a little bit, slowly and surely then we can help to improve the environment we live in, as well as the environments that the producers of our clothing have to endure.

We have sourced 100% organic cotton for our range All The Babies’.  We have designed a beautiful range of babygrows, vests, hats and bibs from two factories, both with a GOTS certificate which is the international accreditation for organic production.  One in India who is producing our 100% organic natural classic range consisting of white and vanilla colours and the one in Turkey is producing our 100% organic cotton for our fun and funky range which will consist of vibrant pink and blue colours.  Both ranges are incredibly soft and beautiful -

In The Begining - All The Babies

JUNE/JULY 2010 – ALL THE BABIES – AN IDEA IS BORN -

The idea for an organic baby clothing on-line store catering for babies and toddlers needs came to us as a result of one of us (Debra) being made redundant and the other one (Laura) feeling she wanted to stay at home and look after her son after his birth.  We had always had the idea of running a business together but the opportunity had never presented its self before.  Our little Vincent (Grandson and Son) has always suffered from mild Eczema and we had noticed a big improvement in his skin when we went on holiday and he wore organic cotton teeshirts and shorts, he just seemed so comfortable in them.  The organic cotton is very soft and breathable.   That’s where our idea of organic baby clothing came from.
We started to build on the idea and it has just grown and grown.  We went along to the Bubble Show which is just for babies and toddlers, we came away with so many good ideas for All The Babies, the kinds of organic baby and toddler clothes we wanted to sell but most of all it really reinforced our desire to produce our own range of organic baby clothes  ‘ All The Babies’ .

And that is the story of how ‘www.allthebabies.com’ was born -

Why Organic by All The Babies

The term ‘Organic’ refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed.  It includes a system of production, processing, distribution and sales that assures consumers that the products maintain the organic integrity that begins on the farm.

Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers.  Because organic agriculture does not use toxic and persistent pesticides, choosing organic products is an easy way to help protect yourself, your children and the environment in which we live.

By increasing our use of organic products we can help the sustainable development of our planet.  Organic agriculture protects the health of people and the planet by reducing the overall exposure to toxic chemicals from synthetic pesticides that can end up in the ground, air, water and food supply and that are associated with health consequences, from asthma to cancer.

We can reduce the world’s exposure to toxic chemicals which come from the use of pesticides and herbicides by using more organic products.  We can protect the health of both the people and the planet by making these changes and give our children a healthier environment to live in.

Why Fairtrade?

Fairtrade is the only certification scheme whose purpose is to tackle poverty and empower producers in developing countries.  Fairtrade delivers unique benefits to producers, businesses and consumers.  For most Fairtrade products, buyers must pay at least the Fairtrade minimum price.  The price aims to cover the costs of sustainable production for the producer.

There are also higher Fairtrade minimum prices for crops or higher grades of produce which enable producers to negotiate better prices based on factors such as quality.

Fairtrade works to empower small-scale farmers and workers for certain products.  Fairtrade only certifies small farmer organizations.  Examples include coffee, coca, cotton and rice.  By favouring democratic organizations of small farmers, Fairtrade gives the stability rural families need to plan for the future

ALL THE BABIES  – Is a new and exciting concept for supplying baby and toddlers with organic cotton, natural bamboo and fair-trade clothes and toys.
Protecting our environment for the sake of the next generation becomes all the more important to us once we have children  and grandchildren of our own and now thanks to a locally based company you can dress your offspring with complete peace of mind that the materials used are organic and natural.  The clothes not only feel good to wear as they are luxurious and soft, they also have the advantage of letting the skin breath naturally.  This is particularly helpful for young children with skin conditions such as Eczema as the skin is able to breath naturally and does not get too warm and damp.
Established earlier this year by mother and daughter team Debra and Laura, All the Babies is a web-based business specialising in organic and natural clothing for babies and toddlers.  Central to the collection is their own organic baby range ‘All The Babies’ sourced from both India and Turkey using 100% organic cotton.
“The idea for the company materialised when  I was struggling to return to work full-time after having my son,” explains Laura, who lives in nearby Leavesden. “My mum was made redundant at around the same time so it just seemed like the perfect time to go into business together.  Our idea to sell organic baby clothing came from our very own little one, called Vincent.  He has suffered from mild Eczema since a young baby and when we went abroad we invested in some lovely organic cotton tee-shirts and shorts.  His skin condition has improved since that time.
“We really want to make a difference to how people view organic and fair-trade products and try very hard to source beautiful organic, natural and fair-trade products for our customers.  By increasing our use of organic products we can help the sustainable development of our planet.  Organic agriculture protects the health of the people, the farmers and factory workers who have to work with raw cotton and most importantly our planet.

Alongside the organic baby clothes range,  All the Babies also stocks a variety of other organic and fair-trade products for babies and toddlers from newborn to five years, including shoes, rattles and soft toys.  Our gift sets can be personally designed, you can choose which items to include in your gift set and All The Babies will gift wrap and send anywhere in the world at no extra charge with your own personal message enclosed.

All The Babies was established in May 2010, by Debra and Laura.  We want to develop our own brand of exciting organic and natural clothing for babies and toddlers.  We are concentrating on developing our own organic baby range ‘All The Babies’ which is being sourced from India and Turkey using 100% organic cotton.  Both these factories are GOTS Certified for organic clothing and Fair Trade Certified.

At ‘All The Babies’ our philosophy is based on a desire to help the planet and its people.  We really want to make a difference and try very hard to source organic and fair-trade products for our customers whilst helping the organic farmers and factory workers to lead better lives, by encouraging people to start buying or using organic and fair-trade products.

We have sourced organic and fair-trade products from Green Baby, Bamboo Baby, Kite Kids, Little Green Radicals and Jazkids.  Our gift sets are either organic or fair-trade certified and the toys are knitted by local people to help support their rural local communities.
